The title of this work came from a slip of paper with the old frame and thanks to an observant, and knowledgable, viewer we are now able to verfiy that it is of Falmouth harbour. We are informed a little artistic licence may been employed but Customs House Quay with it's Georgian buildings, the Church of King Charles the Martyr and the headland all are recognisable today.
Despite being looked at by several of us, frustratingly, we can not put an artist's name to this watercolour. Doubly annoying as it is from a very accomplished hand and ought to be recognisable. Very reminiscent of Clarkson Stanfield.
