Patrick Nasmyth (1787-1831)
Patrick Nasmyth was a Scottish artist, eldest son of the 'father of Scottish landscape painting' Alexander Nasmyth (1758-1840). Patrick moved to London when he was 20 and his works were often of the Home Counties painted in a 17th century Dutch style. As such he was nicknamed the 'Scottish Hobbena.' Today, Patrick Nasmyth is represented in the collections of the Tate, V&A, National Galleries Scotland, Glasgow museums, Government Art Collection, Laing Art Gallery, and the Manchester Art Gallery, among many others.
