A pretty young girl holding a posy, the softness and beauty of which is eminently captured by the use of pastel. We wondered if the girl in the painting was the artist's daughter as a similar scene but in oils was sold at Christies in 1998 (it fetched £2,800). However, we have now been informed by a member of the artists family that this was definitely not the case as he married late in life and there were no children.
