A very accurate depiction by Barber in 1883 of Abbey basin, steps and warehouse, Penzance harbour, overlooked by St Mary's church and the bell tower of the then West Cornwall College on Chapel Street. Surprising then that Barber has omitted a 't' in the spelling of Matthews Ship and Boat Builders! The last image for this painting is an early photograph from 1920 and while the buildings have changed little the industry of the harbour seems to have declined.
