Henry Schouten (1857-1927)
Henry Schouten was a Belgian artist born in Dutch Indonesia. He studied art at the Academy of Brussels and painted, with realism, farmyard and farm animals, their herdsmen and aspects of rural/farming and peasant life. Animals were a favourite subject matter though he also painted some floral still lifes. Known to use a range of pseudonyms including: Henri Schantey, Joseph Klass, M Claes, V. Marinus, J.Remis, E. Joors and Meulat.
