Frank Watson Wood Snr (1862 - 1953)
Frank Watson Wood was a painter of landscapes, marines, portraits and fishermen. He joined the Berwick Art School, furthering his training at South Kensington Art School (later the Royal College of Art) and later at the Academie Julian, Paris. Wood was an art teacher/master in Newcastle then Hawick till the turn of the century when he gave up teaching, becoming a professional artist. He moved south to Portsmouth painting marines/shipping. Exhibited at the Royal Academy and today his works can be seen at Berwick, Hawick, Museums/art galleries and the Britannia Royal Naval College.
