A good and typical example of Edith Hume's work. Although an English artist, her painting was always more in a Dutch rather than, say, Newlyn style of the later Victorian period. Generally of figures on the shore and often with children, her work was well sought after in her lifetime and remains very well collected today. In fact the tag on the frame states 'Ellis' rather than the correct 'Edith' - quite often a mistake like this is seen on an original label - a new one provided if required.
