Edith Hume (1843 - 1906)
Children collecting Driftwood
Medium: None
Size without frame: 23.0" x 35.0"
SOLD
An excellent and substantial example of this well collected artist's work. Most of her paintings are of Dutch children and fisherfolk at the seashore, so this is a very typical work. She exhibited 19 paintings at the Royal Academy and at many other venues as well. Apparently there was terrific demand in Victorian times from city dwellers to have paintings that were 'close to the land' and this subject still retains its charm on that score. Framed size is approximately 29 x 41 inches.
