Charles & Henry Shayer (1826-1914 & 1825-1894)
Charles Thring and Henry Waller Shayer were sons of accomplished figure and landscape painter William Joseph Shayer (1787-1879). Taught and influenced by their father both sons also assisted him in his studio until his death. The brothers frequently collaborated with one another with Charles painting animals and Henry the, often wooded, landscape.Today their works can be seen at the Cooper Gallery and the Southampton City Art Gallery.
