Fine and large Charles & Henry Shayer oil painting. A herdsman chats to the milk maid at dawn as she prepares to milk the patiently waiting dairy cows in a woodland glade. In excellent condition (previously relined), signed and dated, 1883, lower left. Provenance: private collections; Christies 2003.
