Sir William Russell Flint R.A. (1880-1969)
Andromeda
Medium: Coloured conte crayons
Size without frame: 11.0" x 8.0"
SOLD
Shown in the original frame that is falling apart and much in need of replacement! We are happy to do that for a buyer, off course. Andromeda, daughter of Cassiopeia, was reckoned by her mother to be more beautiful than Poseidon's nymphs and taunted him with her beauty. Driven to despair, he kidnapped her chaining her to a rock to be devoured by a terrible sea monster. Glad to have that title otherwise you might think Flint had a somewhat less salubrious idea in mind!
