One of a pair of interesting paintings showing the ferry at Tewskbury. We noted that: "There was no bridge across the Severn near Tewkesbury until the 19th century. Earlier there were two ferries, the Upper Lode on the crown of the river's bend round Severn Ham and the Lower Lode just below the confluence of the Swilgate (and the Mill Avon) with the Severn." Maybe we need some help from someone local to the area to complete this description.... There is a Frost & Reed label on this one of the pair.
