Appealing William Manners gouache of an approaching storm in the Cumbrian Fells. It was probably blazing sunshine when he went out to gather in the sheep as the hapless farmer is without a coat and in for a drenching. We like the more atmospheric Manners' paintings and this an excellent example. Conserved, glazed with Artglass and signed, lower left.
