A rare Breakspeare orientalist painting, of the Slave Market in Cairo. A popular subject of the time (if perhaps for being a plausible location to paint nude women as anything else) Breakspeare's take is charming and certainly romanticised. A gentle, relaxed, scene with the women seemingly content, musicians playing in the background, and even a kindly portrayal of the slave trader. Signed lower left and in a fine frame.
