Walter Linsley Meegan (1859-1944)

Walter Linsley Meegan was born in Leeds and studied at Leeds School of Art. He travelled extensively and lived in New York for a while before returning to settle in Scarborough. Meegan was a pupil of John Atkinson Grimshaw and his work is influenced by Grimshaw’s style and today he is best known for his nocturnal and moonlit scenes. Works can be seen in public collections including the Scarborough Art gallery and Leeds Museums and Galleries (Discovery Centre and Abbey House Museum).
