An evocative scene of the farming days now gone except for a few areas that continue the old practices. Many of these exist still in the Scottish crofting communities. It would not make for such a scene if the hay was in modern bales !Painting occasional shore and hunting scenes the bulk of this very Scottish painter's subjects were farming and often depicted hay making and the gathering of seaweed, kelp and wrack.
Housed in the original 5" frame.
