A study of figures on a track above an Italian lake, the old backings describing it as Above Lago Maggiore. If I were collecting one family of painters it would without doubt be the Richardsons of Newcastle, whose subjects are wide-ranging and always of the highest quality. We recently sold a small subject painted in the year of the artist's death and it showed no failing in execution.
