Thomas Buttersworth (Attributed) (1768-1827)
Thomas Buttersworth was a seaman of the Napoleonic wars period who became a marine painter producing works to commission, and was little exhibited during his lifetime.
He was born on the Isle of Wight, England. The National Maritime Museum in London has 27 watercolours by Buttersworth.
His son James Edward Buttersworth (1817-1894) also became a maritime artist.
