A breezy day at the beach under Bamburgh Castle, Northumberland. It looks as if the boat has been decaying there for some time but, intriguingly, there are ropes anchoring it in place suggesting perhaps that it is being salvaged. This watercolour by Thomas Bush Hardy signed and annotated lower right. Thanks to a customer we now know this is the Bamburgh wreck, a boat built around 1768, which is still under the Bambrugh sands. Revealed following a storm in June 2013 it was visible until early 2014 when again reclaimed by the sands.
