A fresh and breezy study that looks to be on 'home territory' and signed and dedicated 'To Eleanor, Xmas 1911'. Eleanor Hughes, a friend of Birch, was an outstanding artist in her own right and part of the Newlyn School, studying under Stanhope Forbes. At some early stage the picture was exhibited, photographed and catalogued at £765!
