A beautifully simple seascape showing a single sailing ship, a rainbow and storm clouds in the far distance. Signed and dated 1896. Acquired, in need of a good clean, from a private collection in the North East. By a surprising coincidence, a very large painting (5 foot wide) of an identical scene by Jobling and painted in the same year, appeared at auction in November 2017 in the USA.
