Cold blue water but a hint of sunrise in the sky on a calm early morning on North Tyneside, the riverside mostly asleep save for a few fishermen preparing their boats and one setting off for sea. Happy to be corrected but we think the quayside wharves are Western Quay and to the right the permanently Tyne-moored RNR drill ship, the HMS Castor. Fascinating painting of old North Shields, the High and Low lights prominent as they are touched by the light of the rising sun. In excellent condition, signed lower left, the absence of the training ship/'Industrial School' the Wellesley, suggests this is could be an early Jobling.
