A substantial and fine example this early English watercolourist. A herd of seven fallow deer rest under trees; painted with Hill's precise attention to detail showing the bucks' palmate antlers and the variable coloured coats. This painting was acquired from a collection in the USA and is in the framing as acquired and untouched being in excellent condition with strong colours and no signs of any fading. Sometimes Hills signed his work and sometimes he didn't - this one of the latter.
