Robert Ernest Roe (1852-1921)
Robert Ernest Roe was a painter of coastal subjects and who was the son of artist Robert Henry Roe (1823-1905). He was listed as having addresses in London and Cambridge but often painted scenes of the North East coast including Scarborough, Whitby and Staithes. Robert Ernest Roe exhibited four works at Suffolk Street including Scarborough Castle and Stone Point, Walton-on-Naze. Today, his works can be seen at the Scarborough Art Gallery, The Mercer Gallery, Harrogate, and the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens
