A superb riverside Birket Foster in terrific condition. On the River Yare, Norfolk Broads, a barge boatsman chats to a herdsman as the latter's cattle drink from the river's tributary. As often with Foster, a delicate and beautiful sky, this time of gathering evening cloud and many detailed observations. Exhibited, but no clues as to where, the backboard label long gone. (Title and exhibition loan insurance valuation label removed during conservation from the old mountboard.) Monogrammed, lower left.
