There is a rapture on the lonely shore...Evening sunlight shimmers on the Atlantic in Ballinskelligs bay, Kerry, as rain-laden clouds move swiftly inland. We think there are but a few who manage to capture the light and the colours of sea around Ireland as Wilks. If you know the west of Ireland, this painting will spirit you there. Interesting to see the rundale clachan, the strips of the infields still today evident, if no longer cultivated. The light though remains the same - unique. In excellent condition, signed lower left and annotated verso.
