Impressive Maurice Canning Wilks oil looking across the bog to Errigal, county Donegal. Wilks' skill as a colourist has captured the pink hues of the quartzite mountain, subtle tones of the turf bank and bog with it’s dark pools and, as ever, the Irish summer weather. We are guessing it is July as the men in the midground are saving the turf and lifting to stack.Wind-blown cloud casts the foreground temporarily in shade while beyond is bathed in sunshine. In excellent condtion, signed lower right, titled 'Mount Errigal, Co Donegal' and signed on the stretcher. Housed in a James Bourlet & Sons frame.
