Lester Sutcliffe (1848-1933)
Lester Sutcliffe was born in Heptonstall, near Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. His scenic landscape and naval paintings were often of Yorkshire, Whitby and Scarborough. He exhibited with the Newlyn artists later on in his painting career, and married the artist Elizabeth Trevor, the two being considered distinguished artists of their region. Sutcliffe died in Leeds age 84.
