This is fabulous. If you like the sea you'll love this painting, its colours bright and so true. Schofield has departed from his more typical composition of a low horizon and restrained palette and painted this seascape more in the English impressionistic style of his friend Herbert Royle - heavy impasto, bold vibrant colours and romantically hazy detail (diving gannets and sailboats on the horizon). Location is unknown but most probably somewhere on a Yorkshire shore. Signed lower left.
