Joseph Thors (fl 1863-1900)
Joseph Thors is a name that is immediately recognised as one of the leading landscape artists of the Victorian period, and yet very little information is available on this talented and prolific painter in oils of the English rustic landscape.
He lived, worked and exhibited from various addresses in the London area. Later, he moved north to Birmingham and as well as rustic scenes he painted rivers and the occasional coastal views. He is now regarded as a Member of the Birmingham School of Painters who flourished in the latter half of the 19th Century.
