One of two exceptionally fine examples and completely fresh to the market. Bears the title, in the artist's hand, to reverse and re-framed by Mawson Swan and Morgan in 1911 so the frame, while not being original, is still antique! Acquired in excellent, untouched condition and it required merely a light clean. Both signed and dated 1859. Certainly the best two Carmichaels we have ever offered! He was the author of the series of 'English Coast Views from the Mouth of the Thames to the Firth of Forth.' We wonder if both these paintings could have been the originals from this series?
