A vibrant portrait of a Spanish woman holding both a fan and a rose. In traditional dress she wears a mantilla and a gold silk shawl (manton de seda?). Chapman exhibited 'A Spanish Study' at the Royal Academy in 1862 but this a later painting, dated 1867. Relined and cleaned; signed lower left.
