Interesting local painting of Ridley Mill and house, Stocksfield, in 1893 by John Wallace. The mill race feeds an overshot water wheel as ducks and farmyard animals feed in and around the pond. There was a mill on this site since 1566 operating as corn mill at the time of this painting and until the early 1900's when it ceased operating. Signed and dated lower right; further signed, inscribed and dated on the reverse oil on canvas.
