A mother and daughter take tea at Jesmond Mill House. The Jesmond Dene Mill ceased milling in the 1890's and we can't determine whether it was then a commercial venture, cafe, or more simply this is the then occupier's (a stonemason) family. Charming painting with the courtyard looking cool and inviting brightened by a wall covered in colourful nasturtiums. Very possibly one of Wallace's last paintings, signed and dated 1904 bottom left, and further signed, inscribed and titled 'Refreshment', and dated on the reverse.
