Strong colours and a style instantly recognisable as John Robertson Reid this a great watercolour. A woman, who appears to be knitting while sitting on a headland, looks up to watch the fishing fleet depart from the harbour cove of Polperro, Cornwall. John Robertson Reid lived for a while in Newlyn sharing a house with his sister Flora MacDonald Reid and often painted fisherfolk and in, and around, Polperro. Cleaned, conserved, and in a new gold leaf frame glazed with Artglass. Signed, lower left.
