Having been listed for years on our website with completely the wrong dimensions, this is, in fact, a sustantial and imposing picture by a well-respected Scottish artist and, hence, deserving of a new presentation from the front of 'New' pictures on our wesite!
Described as a painter and etcher, John Macdonald Aiken's lovely, soft pastel records an obviously well off lady. Very simplistic in treatment and strongly imparting a feeling of genteel femininity.
Born and lived in Aberdeen, he was widely exhibited and was elected to the Royal Society of Etchers and the Royal Scottish Academy where he exhibited one hundred and twenty seven works.
