John Henry Mole (1814-1886)
Cockle Picking,
Medium: Watercolour
Size without frame: 13.0" x 20.0"
SOLD
A good sized Mole and in typically gentle tones of folk gathering shellfish. Don't think there are that many cockles in the North East and by the topography of the coast line believe the view to be more likely to be West Coast. Bears the labels of George Hughes and Mawson Swan, two of Newcastle's most repected names who handled paintings and framing of most of the major artists between the late 19th and mid 20th. century, particularly in the Newcastle area.
