We can't help but think that Slater must have endured some torture painting this peaty Scottish river. He is in Scotland, it's August, it's misty, suggesting it's warm (well, for Scotland) and that there's little wind, he is beside water and is knee deep in heather. The midges must have been just fierce. Probably dating between 1900 and 1920 this painting is typical of Slater's Scottish works featuring just nature
Move back from your screen, this painting needs a bit of distance to fully appreciate not to mention a large wall to accomodate. Being housed in a substantial frame, weighting close to 40kg, it also needs a very strong hanger. Free shipping only for UK, which will be by fine art mover. International please ask for a quote.
