A wonderful impressionistic interpretation full of movement and colour. One can almost smell the air. Slater loved his sea studies many of which were painted 'on the spot' and indeed we have had an oil in the past that even had grains of sand embedded in it having been painted on deck chair canvas. How realistic is that! - or was he hard up at the time?
