Slater often spent summers in Scotland painting landscapes of unnamed Highland glens. Intent on painting the raw feeling of nature here he paints a not untypical August day in the Highlands. A peat stream brown and lively after recent rain, dark wind-blown clouds threating more, the blooming heather lends the landscape warmth. Signed lower left.
