This watercolour of two Pointers working a moor await their master's successful shot! Very fine example of the work of John Charlton who was a favourite son of the North East of England but very much appreciated further afield for his mastery of painting horses, dogs and figures, often in detailed and vivid landscapes. He exhibiting 53 works in the Royal Academy from 1870. (Title from an old label.)
