Brandon Smith is often confused with James Burrell Smith, both of whom signed with monogramme and, to further confuse matters, Burrell Smith sometimes painted waterfalls. However, to the knowing eye, Brandon Smith is quite distiguishable and bore the obvious soubriquet of 'waterfall Smith'.
