Jan Willem van Borselen (1825-1892)
Jan Willem van Borselen was a Dutch landscape painter born in Gouda on 20th Sept 1825. He began painting at an early age exhibiting from the age of thirteen. Moved to The Hague in 1855 joining the Pulchri Studio, many of whose artists are associated with the 'Hague School.' Favoured by King William III gaining commissions and later honours. Exhibited at the Grafton Gallery in London in 1880; regular prize winner and today his paintings in various museums including Kirklees Museums and Galleries.
