Printer and landscape painter, born in Birkenhead, the son of an architect. He trained with Julius Olsson in St Ives during the 1890s and also spent time at Liverpool School of Art. He was held in high regard for his fine quality paintings with a subtle tonal approach. So, this is a very unusual subject for this artist.
