Isa Thompson (1850-1926)
Landscape and genre painter, daughter of a ship's chandler. May have attended the government School of Design in Newcastle, then studied in Paris. Exhibited quite widely in North East and elsewhere incuding at Royal Academy until 1912. She became the second wife of Robert Jobling in 1893 and thereafter signed with her married name. Often painted with her husband at Cullercoates but eventually spent more time in Staithes.
