A fisherman and family look to have lost an oar and are improvising, using all they have to catch the wind. Now relined, Perlee Parker's original inscription verso, read: "Catching the breeze - nautical invention. Painted from a sketch taken from nature 'For many things impossible to thought. Have by need to full perfection brought' Drydens wife of Bath HP Parker pinxit 1863." Signed and dated, 1863, lower left.
