Read what you will into this scene but to us it looks like post-church Sunday afternoon relaxation. A young man, still smartly dressed, explains his fishing intent to a woman who looks interested, if perhaps not in fishing. The jug is French, a large gargoulette or water jug, suggesting this is one of Yeend King's paintings of rural France.
