A wonderful and historical vision of the fishermens' life, and particularly that of their wives', on the North East Coast perhaps at Cullercoats, where Emmerson lived later in life. This painting appears to have been exhibited at the Bewick Club 188? in Newcastle, as on the rear it bears the exhibition stamp signed by the president - himself!
