Fabulous Harry Fidler of horses ploughing painted in his usual impressionist style with thick impasto. Only as you step back from it are the subjects fully revealed and it is difficult to represent fully in 2D images. Lovely! Signed H.F. lower left and not a bad provenance, even if the museum did mislabel (!)
Provenance: Bequest of F.W. Fitzgerald, July 5, 1949 to the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, Accession no. 49/29 to gallery labels verso. Deaccessioned from the Collection of the Art Gallery of Ontario 2021
