Sticks loved the Highland drama and URQUHART cetainly had its share. Probably built on the site of a Pictish fort the more recognisable form dates to around 1230. By 1279 it was in English hands and again in 1303 changing then from the Scottish crown to the Mcdonalds over the next 150 years. Conflict continued until 1689 when it saw its last action. An atmospheric place admirably portrayed.
